Breathing in some Lung facts:

Our Philosophies

  • Patient Advocacy

The Lung Centre treats the patient-physician relationship with the respect it deserves. It has been very important throughout our history to take up the patient cause over that of any practice, hospital, insurance company, HMO, government entity, or the like. We do this keeping in mind appropriate focus on cost restraints and quality of life. As an independent pulmonary practice, we at The Lung Centre, can be the strongest patient advocates since we are not beholden to any hospital, insurance company, or other large medical group, except to our patients on an individual basis.

  • End of Life Issues

We are open to discussing end of life issues. It is much more preferable, for example, to discuss living wills, possible withdrawal of ventilator scenarios, etc., before a crisis occurs. It is much better to hear this while the patient is competent and able to communicate rather than to guess from friends and relatives later what their wishes truly are.

We believe appropriate consideration should be given to matters of the body, mind, and Spirit.

  • Continuity of Care

We may not always be timely at The Lung Centre, but it's usually because we've just spent time appropriate for the sickest and neediest individual. If that person was you, you would be very appreciative of the time spent and not worry about being a few minutes late. However, we are also sensitive about your wait time. Because of the dearth of pulmonologists in our area, you may experience times to appointment longer than usual.

  • Confidentiality

We take patient confidentiality seriously. The Lung Centre will do the utmost to keep your confidential information confidential.
